The higher purpose of Karate-Do (the 'way' of Karate) is to develop the mind and spirit of a 'Gentleman-Warrior'. There are no short cuts for this. Karate is based on 'BUDO', the Japanese word for 'martial way'. The concept of Budo is one of ending violence.
